A pied-a-terre designed for an architect and artist as a quiet retreat, celebrates craftsmanship and subtle detail. The owner-designed and built home provides an elegant, authentic backdrop to soothing tones and textures evoking tranquility and escape from the every-day. Layered area carpets and wispy textural window coverings complement the sinuous curves of the furniture, and the overall palette derived from the owners’ paintings. The design evokes a life story of attention to beauty and stillness, and finishes in the master bedroom with an evocation of mist, reminiscent of Maine, a favorite second home.
